Educating Youth on Suicide Prevention and Intervention
Sharing Stuart’s story with high school and college aged audiences has been instrumental in educating these communities in how to identify those who may be at risk for harming themselves and what actions should be taken to help those identified as being at risk.
Guiding Our Message: Educational Foundations for Suicide Prevention Talks
We utilize educational information from instructional programs that provide information about youth suicide prevention for adolescents and young adults between the age of 10-24 years.
Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)
QPR is a certification course that trains instructors to teach QPR for Suicide Prevention to their community. Just as those who are trained in CPR to save lives, those trained in QPR can save lives through learning to identify the warning signs of those in crisis and how to question, persuade and refer them to getting the help
It’s Real
College Students and Mental Health is a program created by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention that was designed to bring mental health issues to light that are commonly experienced by college students. The program was designed to encourage help-seeking behaviors for those experiencing mental health issues.
Hazelden Lifelines Prevention
Hazelden Lifelines Prevention provides suicide awareness resources that are most effective within the school community. School administrators, faculty and staff along with parents and students all benefit from the information provided by this program. The role of students is especially important as they learn suicide warning signs and how to do a “warm handoff” when those identified as being at risk need more care than students can provide.
